Over 40 MCAs sign governor impeachment motion

More than forty Machakos Members of County Assembly have signed a petition to impeach Governor Alfred Mutua from office.

According to reliable sources, the number is speculated to be 46 MCAs the motion is set to be tabled in the assembly this week.

However, the majority leader, Joshua Mwonga is said to have declined appending his signature on the motion.

The governor is being accused of abetting corruption, abuse of office, among other issues

Last week the governor said that some MCAs are planning to impeach him after his refusal to fund their campaigns in the forthcoming elections.

“I am told that some MCAs are planning to impeach me because I have refused to fund their campaigns in the coming elections. I want to tell them to proceed with their plans because the only money I have is for development,” Mutua said as he unveiled the Mulu Mutisya Statute at Mulu Mutisya grounds on Wednesday.

The motion was tabled by Ndalani MCA Stephen Muthuka.
