500 families moved to pave way for exploration of geothermal power

A dark cloud hangs for over 500 families living in part of the geothermal rich area of Kedong ranch in Naivasha after they were issued with an eviction notice.

The move for eviction by the Naivasha Security committee is meant to pave the way for exploration of geothermal energy by a private company.

The families’ majority being the aged are living in fear following the order that comes to effect next week.

This emerged when the families held a demonstration to protest the move to forcefully evict them despite living in the land for decades.

According to their spokesman Justus Ekeno, the government had ordered them to move from the area without showing them where to move next.
