55 families displaced as flash floods sweep through Trans Nzoia

FdsMore than 55 families have been displaced at Wayela village in Trans Nzoia County after River Sabwani burst its banks following a heavy downpour being witnessed in the region. The families of over 200 people, who reside next to the river, were left homeless after water flooded their homesteads and farms forcing them to seek refuge in higher grounds.

However, the rains are not known when to end.According to the Trans Nzoia County Police Commandant Wilfred Mwora, police are ensuring that the families are secure at the church compound.

The police boss is, however, calling on well wishers and humanitarian organizations to come to the rescue of the families that are now in need of food, bedding and mosquito nets.
