President Uhuru Kenya has today awarded Charters to eight universities at State House, Nairobi. The institutions that received the Charters included KAG EAST University in Kakamega, Rongo University, The Co-operative University, Taita-Taveta University,
This comes amid the increase in the number of universities in Kenya with some running non-accredited programmes.
The institutions that received the Charters included KAG EAST University in Kakamega, Rongo University, The Co-operative University, Taita-Taveta University, Murang’a University of Technology, University of Embu, Machakos University and Kirinyaga University.
The president said Kenyan universities have a special role to play in building the nation.
“They that they challenge parochial concerns, they expose us to Kenyans of different origins and experiences and also teach us the value of our nationhood,” he added.
