The ongoing Doctors strike is expected to continue following the stand by Kenya Medical Pharmacists and Dentist Union KMPDU officials that they will not go back to work to ‘supervise deaths’.
The Doctors who earlier declined the 40% pay increment have said that their demands are not personal for they want the local Mashinani residents to access the same facility as those within Nairobi.
However, Senator Wilfred Machage has scolded the striking doctors and asked them to take the government’s offer of a 40 per cent rise in their salaries.
“Don’t let the 40 per cent offer go. Soften a little…have somewhere to start… it is something to start with,” said Migori Senator Machage, who is chairman of the Health committee.
“Soften a bit…do not just stick with the implementation of the CBA,” he added when KMPDU boss Ouma Oluga appeared before the committee.
“Learn from teachers… they achieved something and put it in their pockets. Let us not be blinded by the CBA which can be contested in court,” he said.
