Nyeri county has received a new governor following the demise of Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
Deputy Governor, Samuel Wamathai, was sworn in as the new Nyeri governor for the remainder of the term before the August 8 election.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the county headquarters in Nyeri town.
Leaders and residents of the Mount Kenya region county attended the function to witness Wamathai taking an oath of office.
Wamathai leadership was highly praised as a strong pillar in the late Gachagua’s administration.
