When God rewards us with babies, we forget about our sorrows and worries. Instead, we look forward to raising our babies the right way so that they can fulfill their purpose on this planet.

One of the most exciting aspects of the entire pregnancy process is finding out the gender of your little one. Whether you get to know during your ultrasound scan or when the doctor tells you when you are in the process of giving birth, it is always wonderful to know about the gender of your baby.
Although the vast majority of parents get to know the gender of their little one during the ultrasound scan, there are loads of old wives tales claiming that you get to know the gender of your little one without the scan!

You may have heard a couple of these old wives tales from your grandmother or mother while others will completely take you by surprise.  As these are old wives tales, it may not be completely accurate in determining the gender of your baby. However, it will be fun to try them out when you are expecting and have no idea about the gender of the baby.Here are some of the observations you may encounter.

Changes in skin
Most of the pregnant women from around the world may notice some changes in their skin during the entire process of pregnancy. If your skin is dry during pregnancy, it is an indicator that you are carrying a boy. If your baby is a girl, you will have oily skin.

Weight gain in dad
You can tell the gender of your little one with just the gain in weight your husband experiences during your pregnancy. If your significant other gains weight, you have a girl. On the other hand, if your husband continues to remain slim, you are having a boy.

Acne
Just like how the skin changes, pregnant women may also notice a difference in their acne. When you have a baby boy, there won’t be any change in your acne. However, a baby girl can make your skin release all the oil and cause a breakout.

Glow
You would have heard about pregnant women having the “glow” either from your friends and family. You would have also heard about it from movies and TV shows. However, according to old wives tales, only a boy can give you that pregnant “glow.”

Linea Nigra
The linea nigra is a dark line that some women get right below their belly during pregnancy. According to old wives tales, it can indicate the gender of your little one. If the line is above your belly button, you have a boy. If the line stops below the belly button, then you have a girl.

Baking soda
Believe it or not but the baking soda test has an accuracy of 80%. For this test, all you need to do is add two tablespoons of baking soda to your urine. If the concoction fizzes, you have a boy. If nothing happens when you do this, you have a girl.

Texture of hair
Another noticeable change in pregnant women that can determine the gender of their babies is hair texture. If your hair becomes glossy and thick during pregnancy, you have a boy. If your hair gets dull and limp, it’s a baby girl.

Body hair
Just like how the hair on your head changes, you will notice a difference in your body hair. If your body hair starts becoming thick and grows faster than usual, it is a boy. If there isn’t any change in the growth of your body hair, you have a girl.

Area of weight gain
Some pregnant women gain their weight only in the belly region while others notice weight gain all over. According to old wives tales, if the weight gain is only in your belly, you have a boy. If you gain weight all over your body, you are carrying a girl.

Temperature of feet
According to old wives tales, if your feet are colder than it usually is, then you are carrying a baby boy. However, if there isn’t any change in the temperature of your feet, you have a baby girl.

Growth of feet
A large number of women experience growth in the size of their feet during pregnancy. Sometimes it lasts as long as the pregnancy while other times the change is permanent. If you notice half a size growth in your shoe size, you are having a boy. If your foot size remains the same, it is a baby girl.

Cravings
Pregnant women experience weird food cravings which can indicate the gender of their little ones. If you are craving for food with salt, you have a baby boy; if you are craving food that is sweet, your little one is a girl.

Low or high carrying
The height at which you carry your little one can tell you about the gender of the baby. If the belly is in a high position, you are carrying a baby girl. However, you have a baby boy if you have a low belly.

Headaches
Another indicator of your little one’s gender is the occurrence of headaches. If you have no headaches at all during pregnancy, you have a baby girl. However, if you have bad headaches, a baby boy is coming your way.

Sleeping position
Your natural sleeping position can determine the gender of the baby you are varying. If you naturally sleep on the right side, you have a girl; if you sleep on your left, it’s a baby boy.

Color of nipples
You will notice significant changes in your breasts during pregnancy especially the areolas. If your nipples change color by becoming darker, you have a boy. However, if there isn’t any change in color of the nipples, it is a girl.

Breast size
The size of your breasts will continue to grow during the entire process of pregnancy. If the right breast is bigger than the one on the left, you have a boy. But, if the left breast is bigger than the one on the right, it’s a baby girl.

Clumsiness
Due to all the changes that take place in your body, it is understandable that you may find it a tad difficult to be comfortable with the new proportions. If you are clumsier than you normally are, you have a boy. However, if you don’t notice any change in clumsiness, then you have a baby girl.
