The parents of the eight girls who died in a fire at Moi Girls, Nairobi have been asked to go to Chiromo mortuary for DNA tests. This will help to identify the bodies most of which police say were badly burned hence poses identification challenges.
Ten other students were hospitalized, two in critical condition, following the fire whose cause is yet to be established. The autopsy will be done on Tuesday after the parents give the samples today.
Two of the girls will stay in the Nairobi Womens Hospital longer. CEO Felix Wanjala on Sunday said the two suffered 66 per cent and 18 per cent burns, respectively. They will have to stay at the hospital for two to three weeks.
“We had 10 students admitted and we have discharged five. We still have five admitted,” Wanjala told the press at the hospital.
“Of the five, we have three who we are confident will go home today. That leaves us with two.”
