Vetting of nine newly nominated cabinet secretaries started Thursday morning, with Public Service Cabinet Secretary Nominee Margaret Kobia being first to be vetted; NASA MPs however boycotted the vetting process as it was attended by Jubilee MPs who are members of the appointments committee.
The appointment committee that is mandated to vet the nominate cabinet secretaries Thursday kicked off the vetting process with the absence of NASA MPs who promised to boycott the vetting.
First to appear before the panel was Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS nominee Margaret Kobia who stated that the Head of State acted within the law in forming the new position of Chief Administrative Secretary.
She also promised to put in place measures to harmonize jobs for every ethnic group as well as looking at the issues of the boy child are addressed.
After Prof Kobia came John Munyes, the nominee for the Ministry of PETROLEUM and Mining, who Majority Leader Aden Duale tried to give a hard time.
The former Senator of Turkana further promised to desist corruption once he is appointed in the ministry which is termed lucrative.
Munyes paved way for Monica Juma who was nominated to step up from Principal Secretary to Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs defended her qualification to fit for the job.
Farida Karoney, Nominated for the post of Lands asserted that he will bring strategic leadership in the controversial docket .On Friday, four nominees will be vetted who include Former DPP Keriako Tobiko and Former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani.
