President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated National Intelligence Service’s Noordin Mohamed Haji to fill the position of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The selection panel had submitted three names to the President last Friday.
The finalists included, Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni, Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Jacob Ondari and Mr Haji.
At least 10 candidates were interviewed by the panel chaired by University of Nairobi’s law don Elizabeth Muli.
The DPP’s office had Mr Ondari, fellow Deputy DPP Dorcas Oduor, Mr Nicholas Mutuku, Senior Assistant DPP Patrick Gumo and James Mungai Warui.
Supreme Court Deputy Registrar Daniel ole Keiwua and Machakos Senior Principal Magistrate Abdulkadir Ramadhan were from the Judiciary.
President Kenyatta also sent to Parliament for vetting and approval the name of Harry Kimutai as PS Livestock; Alfred Cheruiyot as PS Correctional Services.
Others who have been appointed are Prof Fred Sigor as PS Irrigation; Jerome Ochieng as PS ICT; Susan Komen as PS East African Community; and John M. Omenge as PS Mining.
