Chebukati: Speed up hiring process of commissioners

By Kelly Ogome

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chair Wafula Chebukati has asked members of parliament to speed up the process of hiring commissioners to help in boundary delimitation.

Chebukati who appeared before the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIOC) stated that the commission cannot make any major plans with only three commissioners after other commissioners resigned in April following internal wrangles after the 2017 general elections.

In February this year, the commission wrote to a letter to parliament asking for 8 billion Kenyan shillings for the process of reviewing constituency and ward boundaries. A process that will continue to August 2021.
