Kitui leaders drum up support for constitutional amendments

Several elected leaders from Kitui County have come out in support of calls to amend the constitution, this is after Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said that he is fully behind the calls and that he would support the ongoing calls by leaders to have the constitution amended.
While speaking at Mwingi on Sunday where she attended mass, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu said that there is need to amend the constitution in order to enable easy delivery of service.
Ngilu said that the change of constitution should not mainly focus on developing elective posts for few individuals in the country, but should be meant at addressing issues affecting Kenyans.
Mwingi west MP Charles Nguna addressing the matter at Bondoni in his constituency yesterday said that Kenyans should first focus on development, instead of concentrating on calls to amend the constitution devoid of development.
Mr. Nguna said that Kenyans are also over represented in the government; hence measures should be put in place to reduce leadership posts in government in order to reduce the wage bill.
However, Mwingi central MP in his side is of the opinion that the constitution should only be amended to increase representation in government and ensure that all communities across the country get a share of executive posts.
Mulyungi said that increasing representation in government won’t in any way affect Kenyans negatively but instead it would increase their support for government.
