Interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has vowed to deal much swiftly with national exam crooks even as education ministry focused on four schools in Kisii county over intended irregularities.
Launching an ultra-modern dormitory and a borehole at Keriri girls high school the CS clarified that provision of security on national exams was his ministry’s responsibility.
Matiang’is sentiments came after Kenya National Examination Council chairman Prof. George Magoa’s disclosure that certain schools in the area and elsewhere in the country were bent on engaging in exam leakages and impersonation.
But Kisii county governor James Ongwae criticized blanket condemnation of the area as being notorious for exam irregularities and called for sobriety in handling the issue.
The CS assured Kenyans that he was working at cross purposes with his counterpart in education to protect the integrity of the impending national exams.
On other security related issues in Kisii, the announced CS finalization of a report on the Kenyenya killings in which three people including a police officer lost their lives during a confrontation between members of the public and police.
He said those found to have been involved will face the full force of the law irrespective of their social standing or rank .
