Kisii county education board has urged stakeholders in the sector to support the new curriculum from the on set as schools reopened.
Board chairman,Dr. Henry Onderi said the multi-prong approach towards implementation of the competence based curriculum ( CBC) will make it succeed.
Speaking to the media in Kisii,Onderi observed the national government and education ministry had already pronounced themselves on the 2 -6 -6 -3 curriculum and that any sideshows will not help.
The chairman warned that delivery of the current and new curriculum can be compromised by delaying commencement of learning programmes.
He faulted some learners and teachers for reporting late in schools and said it might lead to poor academic and national examinations performance as witnessed in last year’s results.
According to Onderi parents cannot afford to abdicate their responsibilities to teachers by failing to visit schools over absenteeism of their children.
The chairman appealed to stakeholders to embrace the welfare of the child and work together in delivering their mandate.
