Kisii county leaders had commended president Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing Interior ministry cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to take charge of the cabinet’s national development, implementation and communication committee.
Led by the governor, James Ongwae and county assembly members,the termed the appointment an honour to the local community vowing to support his government and Building Bridges Initiative(BBI).
The leaders noted that the added responsibilities to Matiang’i was indicative of the president’s confidence in him borne out of his devotion to deliver any state task assigned to him.
Speaking at county boardroom Ongwae said the appointment according the CS new powers over security, administration, implementation of government projects and anti- corruption was clear indication of fruits of the BBI.
Matiang’i will be chairing meetings that bring together all CS’s, the Attorney –General and Head of Civil Service in added responsibilities.
The Governor appealed for the local community’s unity and support to realize national the government’s Big 4 agenda.
Congratulating the CS, Ongwae said the county fully subscribed to the national executive order 2019 that brought the changes.
Kisii county assembly deputy speaker, David Okindo, observed the new portfolio was not only a challenge to the CS, but to the local community to reciprocate the gesture.
The region and the country stood to benefit more if it supported the government agenda.
