Ethics and Anti-corruption (EACC) detectives on Thursday morning raided the homes of Kiambu County Governor, Ferdinand Waititu in Runda and Garden Estate, Nairobi. They also raided is his daughter’s Nairobi home.
Anti-Corruption watchdog Spokesperson, Yassin Amaro says officers searched his homes in Runda and Garden Estate.
Amaro says the investigation touches on various issues related to alleged corruption. He added that the Governor will be taken to EACC for questioning. The detectives were searching for contracts issued by Mr Waititu’s administration. Tens of officers arrived at the residences a few minutes after 5am and conducted a search for files and documents.
The outspoken Governor, popularly known as Baba Yao, is on the EACC’s radar over a number of his programmes, including ‘Kaa Sober’which is aimed at rehabilitating alcoholics.
15 other officials of the county government are also targeted.
