Gor inch closer to Top-8 title as Ulinzi, Muhoroni draw

Gor Mahia have one foot in the finals of the Kenyan Premier League Top 8 Knockout tournament after beating rivals Tusker 2-0 in a knife-edge first leg semi-final match at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.Earlier at the same venue, Muhoroni Youth and Ulinzi Stars settled for a barren draw in another dull semi-final.

Gor ran rings around a clueless Tusker defence in either half. Goal-scoring machine Jacques Tuyisenge was on the mark in the 13th minute and the stocky Enock Agwanda nodded in the second in the 34th minute from a Francis Kahata corner.

The Rwandese, who has become a favorite of the Green Army fans beat Tusker defender Eugine Asike before fiercely rifling past Tusker custodian Martin Musalia.

The brewers, who have won the Top-8 trophy twice back to back in 2013 and 2014, were simply no match for the efficient Gor machine.
