Andrew Njoroge Gicheha, a senior bar attendant with a Head of State Commendation (HSC) was yesterday rewarded by President Uhuru Kenyatta following his exemplary service at the Parliament bar.
He had served at the pub for 33 years before he retired in 2014, could not hide his joy after the honorable status he received highlighting that he did not expect it.
Mr. Gicheha, who has personally served President Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru, when he was the Gatundu-South MP, was given the insignia marking his new status by Speakers Justin Muturi (National Assembly) and Ekwee Ethuro (Senate) at Parliament Buildings.
The 57-year old indicated that MrKibaki, President Kenyatta and the late John Michuki were his favourite customers during his service at the bar.
The two speakers also awarded 5 other long serving staff of the two houses, three senators and two MPs.
