Lamu and Tana River counties have hatched the implementation of spatial plans that will define land use and solve the perennial conflicts between herders and farmers.
According to Coast Regional Coordinator, John Elungata his office will enforce the spatial plans that have existed since independence to foster peaceful relations among the coastal communities.
The Lamu County Executive committee member for Lands and Infrastructure Fahima Arafat, said that land use in the County had in the past not been defined. The oversight had attracted land grabbers and brought conflict between herders and farmers.
