The Nairobi businesswoman whose vehicle was burnt during anti-IEBC protests will get Sh3 Million to buy a new matatu.
Radio listeners of Kameme FM morning show, Arahuka, raised Sh2 Million via M-Pesa to help Agnes Macharia after the host highlighted her plight.
The Arahuka show host Njogu wa Njoroge appealed to his listeners to support the lady after learning the difficult situation she was going through.
“The host highlighted the plight of Ms Macharia, who was struggling to repay a loan she took to buy the matatu but on Monday last week, protesters burnt it down, taking away her source of livelihood.
The host is said to have launched the fund-raising during his concert at Kasarani Safaricom Stadium on Sunday that attracted more than 10,000 fans.
On Monday, Gatundu-South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria stated that Jubilee allied MPs had contributed a further Sh1 Million to support Ms Macharia.
The businesswoman led by Matatu Owners association chairman Simon Kimutai have since sued CORD leaders for the damage and are seeking compensation.The case will be heard on June 20.
