Itumbi sued for child neglect

Dennis Itumbi, the State House Digital Strategist has been sued over child neglect.

The mother of a four-month-old girl claims that Itumbi deserted the minor even before birth. He abandoned ship when he learnt she was expectant. Upon giving birth he has refused to provide any form of maintenance despite knowing that she is an orphan and had to stop working before delivery.

Through her lawyer, Enricah Dulo, she wants the court to compel Itumbi to provide interim monthly maintenance for the minor pending hearing and determination of the suit. The case will be heard exparte.

She wants Itumbi compelled to pay Ksh50, 000 monthly to cater for food, clothing, medicine and a house help’s salary. She also wants his name included in the child’s birth certificate. The lawyer claims Itumbi has been cruel to the applicant and the minor who is alleged to be his child.

“The applicant has unsuccessfully tried to engage the defendant to provide maintenance for the minor but he has refused to attend the mediation meetings and instead sends his friend Gitau who is not even an advocate,” Dulo states.

The woman states that Itumbi unsuccessfully tried to convince her to procure an abortion. He then went ahead to almost cause to have a miscarriage by putting something in her drink.

Apparently, on October 26th 2018, Itumbi invited the woman for a meeting where he tried to convince her to abort. He allegedly served her a drink and immediately she left the meeting, she started bleeding.

“She rushed to Jacaranda maternity hospital where a medical doctor asked if she was trying to abort the foetus,” the lawyer said.
