Members of a FORD–Kenya party faction in Kisii and Nyamira counties have disowned a meeting held by Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula in the area claiming they did not recognize him as party leader.
The faction members accused Wetangula of using personal body guards to protect himself when he hand-picked former party officials and strangers to attend the meeting in Kisii town.
Intriguingly, the faction members and the Wetangula led delegates separately declared their support for BBI.
Addressing the media in the town, the members allied to the Wafula Wamunyinyi and Simiyu Eseli as party leader and secretary general outfit respectively claimed Wetangula had been replaced on May this year.
Job Kenyanya, branch chairman for Kisii and Nyamira alleged Wetangula lacked respect for party members and had avoided holding elections since 2011.
He accused the senator of turning the party into a personal property occasioning his rejection.
Urging Wetangula to recognize the faction’s national officials, branch secretary, Thomas Aburi claimed organizers of the meeting were county government officers.
According to Aburi, officials purported to have been selected by the delegates in Kisii to replace them were fake since the party election procedures were not followed.
