Kisii county assembly has become the eighth countrywide to pass the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020.
Temporary Speaker, Amos Ondari said during the deliberations that the members were shocked by myths and falsehoods heaped on the bill by some busy bodies and resolved to dismiss the misrepresentations.
Ondari pointed out civic education on the bill will be intensified at the grass root, as its outcome was awaited from parliament.
Commending the county assembly members for endorsing the bill, Governor James Ongwae remarked Kisii residents will not listen to any innuendo or propaganda.
The governor observed the bill was destined to make county assemblies more independent and accord them an opportunity to be appointed county ministers.
According to Ongwae, the move had vindicated President Uhuru Kenyatta who kick-started the process in Kisii in March 2020.
