NAROSURA CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS

Build-ups to the decade traditional graduation ceremony to usher in a new age set locally known as ‘esirit’ continues to be witnessed as Purko Maasai from Naroosura in Narok South hold an ‘ocre’ smeering ceremony to prepare them to join the main Manyatta for close to three months before they graduate in a ‘Eunoto’ festival where morans would be installed as elder of the Ilmirisho age set.

It was songs and dance during the ceremony as the former Narok assembly majority leader, Stephen Ole Kudate welcomed the Morans to his home for the ceremony.

According to Maasai elder Stephen Ole Kudate, the Maasai morans will later on Migrate from Narosura in Narok south to join their fellow age set members at Mau in Narok North constituency. Kudate explained that the cultural ceremonies are meant to instill discipline and morals concerning respect in the society.

Richard Sadera said that Female Genital Mutilation has been done away with with the community having been sensitized to end the  horrific vice.

Nominated Nairobi MCA Leah Ntimama, expressed that women have been given a chance to celebrate the rich culture as they play a huge role in the Maasai community.
