Police have arrested first five people including a candidate for UDA party as voting progressed in Kiamokama by-election. Police used tear gas to arrest Moses Nyakeramba (UDA) candidate and Kitutu Chache politician Bosco Gichana among others who were in a vehicle at Moremani.
Nyakeramba protested he was a few meters from his house and could not understand why he was being arrested. Police confiscated some bags from the vehicle and detained the suspects at Kiamokama police post. Reasons for their arrest were yet to be disclosed since police declined to comment. Supporters from a political party participating in the by-election complained some voters were being harassed by people suspected to be from the rival party.
