The county government of Narok has launched the covid-19 vaccination programme aimed at curtailing the horrifying spread and infection of coronavirus.
Speaking during the launching exercise, the Narok County Executive Member in Charge of Health, Morgan Siloma said they have already received 3,000 doses from the regional depot by the county health team.
The CEC asked the residents to volunteer in large numbers for the exercise in a bid to contain the disease in the county.
He called on residents not to desist from the traditional ways of keeping off Covid -19 protocols set a bay like regular washing of hands and putting on face masks the right way.
Morgan asked the health workers to continue doing their best lauding them for being active even when every other sector was locked down last year because of the novel disease.
He said they expected to vaccinate 1,200 health workers working in the county in the next few days before focusing on teachers and security team.
Currently, the county has reported a total of 500 cases and 21 deaths with only one patient undergoing treatment at the Ololulunga isolation center.
At the same time, the county director of Health Dr. Francis Kiio said the technology used to prepare the vaccine is the same as that of hepatitis B, hence assuring the residents that it is safe for human beings.
He however cautioned the residents of minor side effects like headache and nausea adding that they were targeting more people in the second phase.
