TEA FARMERS DARE KTDA TO CONDUCT DIRECTORAL ELECTION VIA ARTICLES OF MEMORADUM OF ASSOCIATION.

Murang’a tea famers have dared their tea manning body KTDA to conduct the incoming directorial elections by interpreting their Factories Memorandum of Articles of Association that will take place on 20th this month.

Speaking at Githumu High School ground where Nduti tea farmers had gathered for public participation to be enlightened on new tea laws that were signed by the Head of state, Mukuna Kariuki, a tea farmer and coordinator of the meeting declared enough is enough after noting with very great concern that KTDA was there to derail the implementation of the new tea laws by engaging in endless legal battles.

Mukuna said tea farmers will conduct those elections as their articles of association dictates without fear to remove all present KTDA directors by power of votes.

His sentiments were echoed by farmers defender in tea laws implementation task force, Irungu Nyakera, who decried that KTDA has lodged over ten legal cases in different law courts to ensure the laws are not implemented.

Nyakera called upon the AG to intervene and help settle the dust as it is affecting the tea business.

Another farmer, Nancy Wangari noted with great concern that farmers do elect illiterate directors who fail to interpret the law governing the manning of their tea as well as accounts circulating in tea business hence they are incapable of defending farmers from exploitation and extortion.
