Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared eight out of 13 candidates in the impending Bonchari by-election.
The IEBC is also to clear five other aspirants for the vacant seat occasioned by the death of former legislator, John Oroo Oyioka today at the constituency’s head-office in Suneka township.
After being cleared to vie for the position scheduled on May 18th this year, ODM’s candidate and former energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Pavel Oimeke, claimed it was time for change in the constituency.
He urged the residents to be ready to support his initiatives in matters socio-economic development by electing him.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Victor Omanwa claimed he will give priority to fighting clan based sentiments and usher in inclusivity in his leadership for faster development.
But Jonah Ondieki of New Democrats Party admitted the period to serve if voted in was short and that he will utilize to encourage the residents to guard against being infected with covid-19 besides ensuring fairness and justice for all.
Party of Democratic Unity, Kevin Mokaya decried high poverty levels in the constituency and vowed to address it if elected.
The youthful candidate who said it was his third round to contest for the seat added he will press for deserving elderly people to receive state support and for digitization of National Government Constituency Development Fund.
Former area MP’s widow, Teresa Bitutu Oroo, (United Democratic Alliance) former Women rep. Mary Keraa Otara (United Green Movement) and former area legislator, Zepedeo Opore (Jubilee) were also candidates in the race.
