Governor Alfred Mutua on Friday ordered procurement of oxygen generators and compressors to boost production in the Machakos level 5’s oxygen production plants.
Addressing the media after an inspection tour of the hospital’s production oxygen plant, Mutua directed the department of Health and Emergency services to swiftly procure the said equipment in order to save lives of patients.
The governor said the Covid-19 pandemic had strained the demand for oxygen at the region’s largest medical facility. “The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for oxygen and currently all the 460 cubic meters of oxygen produced in the plants is under use with little left for filling oxygen tanks,” Dr Mutua said.
Mutua directed that the procurement be done without unnecessary bureaucracy. He said this earlier at the Covid-19 vaccination zone where hundreds of residents turned out for the covid-19 jab.
