After the 5 counties lying on the metropolitan zone were locked down by the President due to the rise in covid-19 infections, Machakos county has started serious border manning.
With Mombasa road being a key barrier in the county, the county government hand in hand with the national government has launched the exercise to check on vehicles breaking the rules and guidelines on carrying passengers.
Addressing the media, Machakos county CEC, Naomi Mutie at makuta check off said that though all PSG vehicles in the county must have been dominated for no charge there are those ignorant drivers who have not yet taken their time to do so.
“We are not repenting on this exercise, all vehicles must be fumigated, adhere to the sitting capacity of 60 percent passenger and carry within the stipulated time,” she said.
Machakos deputy county commissioner Mavoko sub-couty who was at the road block in Makutano said that there are little challenges since some people have been crossing the barriers on motorbikes thus making it a bit difficult to man the barriers.
“People have defined different tricks to cross the road blocks but we as the security team are going to deal with them, it’s for our own benefit as Kenyans, not individuals, therefore we shall not relent,” she added.
