MYSTERY OVER MURDER OF A TRADER IN NAIVASHA

Mystery surrounds the murder of a 30 year old woman in a Naivasha estate after her lifeless body was found locked in her house.

Also recovered in the house in Kayole was a ransom note that was demanding Sh2m from her relatives failure to which the kidnappers would murder her.

The semi naked body of the mother of two was found covered in a bed sheet by her relatives who came to check on her after failing to reach her on the phone.

The incident came barely two days after a 54-year-old woman was sexually abused and later murdered in the nearby estate of Karai.

In the latest incident, a ransom note implicated some of her close friends though police warned that this could have been planted on the murder scene.

Lakeview MCA Simon Wanyoike who was among the first on the scene expressed his concern over an increase in insecurity cases.

He said that armed attacks and robberies around the lakeside town had become the norm despite the government reviewing curfew hours from 10pm to 8pm.

On the murder, he confirmed the presence of the ransom note adding that police had collected it as part of their investigations.

“It looks like the killers were searching for something in the house and the woman whose body was covered in a bed sheet had foam coming from her mouth,” he said.

A sister to the deceased Ruth Wanjiku told how they decided to check on the deceased after she failed to open her business or respond to their phone calls.

She said that the victim was earlier married but they separated with the husband adding that they didn’t know the motive behind the murder.

“After she was killed, the killers locked the door from outside and we had to break in where we found her lifeless body,” she said.

A neighbour Steve Macharia said that they were still trying to come to terms with the murder that had left them shaken.

Speaking on phone, Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru denied that cases of insecurity had increased in and around the town.

“We are not sure over the cause of death and only a postmortem will determine this and we have increased our patrols in and around the town,” he said.
