MURANG’A COUNTY RECORDS REDUCED NEW CASES OF COVID-19

Murang’a has recorded reduced new cases of covid-19 for the last two weeks, the county executive Member for Health and sanitation Mr. Joseph Mbai has revealed.

On Tuesday, Mbai confirmed that currently 12 patients with coronavirus related complications are admitted in Murang’a Level-5 hospital with three of them being in intensive care units (ICU).

He dismissed claims that Murang’a is among the counties which has been recording many cases of the virus on a daily basis.

The CEC further noted since covid-19 was reported in the country, Murang’a recorded about 1, 200 cases with about 30 deaths.

He observed that initially the county used to send specimens to KEMRI for testing where results were delayed to be released saying the delay occasioned the mix-up when the CS was releasing daily updates.

The CEC, however, cautioned residents from defying protocols put by the Ministry of health in containing the spread of Covid-19..

He confirmed that currently they are using rapid testing of covid-19 where results are released after five minutes.

Meanwhile, the CEC said the county government is in process of installing a big oxygen production machine which will have a capacity to fill more than 40 containers on a daily basis.
