Counties in Nyanza must now wake up and work.

Public Accounts Committee Chair, Opiyo Wandayi has called on the leaders from Nyanza to wake up and start mobilizing and supporting the young and those without ID cards to register as voters saying the next year’s elections is pivotal.
Speaking at a church service in Gem, Siaya County the legislator said as a community they must be prepared before seeking support from outside.
“All the leaders, both elected and non-elected should take it upon themselves to support our people to get these crucial documents,” said Mr Wandayi.
He added, “These elections are going to be pivotal in the history and destiny of this country. We can’t afford to go for these elections lazily hoping that miracles will work we have to be prepared seriously.”
On development, he called on the governors from the Luo Nyanza Counties to pull resources together and complete the last mile of the projects initiated by the national government.
He acknowledged the efforts by the jubilee government and the development partners who have since initiated mega projects in Nyanza.
“We must complete the last mile as the regional governments, we must take good care of these projects and extend them further. The water must now reach the common man so that at least we can have piped water in our homes, otherwise if we leave it as it is it may not be beneficial to the common mwananchi” said the Ugunja MP.
The MP also challenged the governors to be innovative especially in the field of Agriculture after the approval of production of BT cotton.
“Nyanza must now develop the necessary infrastructure for the production of the BT cotton which is on high demand,” he pointed out.
This comes after completion of three days visit by the president last week.
