Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions will focus on environmental sustainability by greening institutions as they train experts in various sectors of economy that will be cognizant to environmental conservation in everything they do.
This is according to Dr. Kipkirui Langat, director general TVETs who launched the programme at Kipsinende Technical Training College in Kipkelion West, Kericho County.
He said the exercise will be carried out in over 2,500 technical institutions across the country, both private and public.
Former Kipkelion West MP Magerer Langat said the institution started without tree cover some years ago and the tree planting exercise will Now improve on the environment in the area.
Philip Mutai, area resident said most of the hilly areas of Kipkelion are bare and have no tree cover, calling for the enhancement by planting trees by the locals.
