Kenya records 10 deaths, 714 new virus cases

Kenya on Saturday recorded 714 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 178,792, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,039 recording a positivity rate of 11.8 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,901,067.

A total of 94 patients are in ICU, out of which 25 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 108 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 98 are in general wards and 10 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 285 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 118 were from the Homebased care program while 167 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 122,631 .

The CS said a total of 1,181,588 vaccines have so far been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 994,622 while second doses are 186,966.”The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 18.8 per cent with the majority being males at 56 per cent while females are at 44 per cent Proportion of adults fully vaccinated is now at 0.7 per cent,” Kagwe said.
