She found a new life as a mobile kinyozi.
Elizabeth Nyambura had a very comfortable life as a teacher for 12years and never dreamt of ever finding herself jobless and moneyless until March 2020 when the government locked down the country due to COVID-19 and rendered her jobless.
With children to feed and bills to pay, she had to think of a Plan B very fast and that’s how she turned into a mobile kinyozi with only two shavers and now says, there is no looking back.
Nyambura says that from the business, she is able to take care of her two children by paying school fees and other expenses in her home.
She adds that as much as the income she gets from the business is not constant since it varies from one month to another, it is still enough to take care of herself and her household.
In a single month she earns up to Ksh.40,000.
Her clients led by Moses Kimani and Caroline Muringi describe her services as the best, and the fact that she goes to them to offer her services makes it even better.
She also makes it convenient for people with busy schedules, with all services because she comes to you.” Says Irene Maina, Nyambura’s student.
Elizabeth further adds that her job has challenges like her as some people might be having bad intentions with her and going to their homes might be a trap.
Another challenge is that some of
her clients could fear contracting COVID-19 to them while shaving them but says she follows all the guidelines and measures laid down by the ministry of health so as to protect herself and her clients.
Nyambura’s big dream is to one day set up a permanent place where all her clients could visit to get her services and also looks forward to empowering more women to be self-employed.
