A school has been de-registered by county education board for failure to meet ministry of education registration requirements.
The axle fell on Simiti primary school in Nyamache sub county with nine learners ,over chronic under enrollment for the last three years.
According to an assessment by the area quality assurance standards ,in 2018 the school had a total of 128 learners which culminated to the current dismal number of nine.
County education board chairman, Prof. Henry Onderi pointed out that the TSC will be advised to withdraw its teachers until the school adhered to the set registration regulations.
Attributing the move to lack of support to the school from the parents and local community,Onderi said the under-enrollment worked against the government’s 100% transition policy.
The chairman disclosed attempts by some parents whose grade four learners were at home to ‘promote’ them to standard five in private schools.
Onderi cautioned that the irregular act will be unacceptable attributing it to abdication of parental responsibility.
Skipping of a class by the learners amounted to undermining the new education system, ‘competence based curriculum’ and will attract punitive measures,he added.
