Parents, teachers, school managements and the general community have been urged to partner in the provision of quality education and infrastructure in learning institutions in Nyeri County.
A Nyeri based businessman Mr Njoroge Wainaina yesterday noted that quality education is key to the economic, social and political development of the region.
Speaking at Chaka primary school in Kieni east Sub County when he officially handed over a grade one classroom he had helped to renovate to the parents, Wainana stressed on the need for good infrastructure in schools to give learners an enabling environment for better performance.
“We have partnered with parents of this school to rehabilitate a class in this school that was not in use and the school has a high number of pupils and does not have enough space,” Wainaina said.
He added that for education and other community based activities to succeed, all partners involved must, as a priority, be able to come together.
He said that parents had renovated five classes and he had done one.
Wainaina disclosed that the same initiative will be extended to other schools in the region citing Embaringo primary school in Gatarakwa ward that he said was in a deplorable state.
“We are doing that one as a model class to show what people coming together can do,” Wainana stated.
The businessman said with good infrastructure, dedicated teaching fraternity in public schools, private schools will become a matter of choice.
He appealed to well-wishers to chip in and help learners stay in safe environments for better results.
The businessman also presided over a ward of prizes to best performing pupils and teachers.
