Governor James Ongwae has assented to 2021/2022 Financial Bill whose ambitious budgetary estimates are dubbed ‘Economic Recovery and Resilience’.
Signing the bill ,the governor explained the Health docket took the lion’s share of the estimated sh. 12.5 billion budget from last year’s sh12.6 billion.
A total of sh. 4.7 translating to 40% of the budget will fund health care services which included completion of the Mother-child health care on 300 bed capacity ward at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital .
Other health projects to be completed are the two wards on the same at Marani and Nyamarambe sub county hospitals with 100 bed capacity each.
The Roads docket was second to the Health to claim enhanced funds from the budget which when combined amounted to over sh. 6 billion.
In the current financial year the county budgeted for sh. 8.9 billion as equitable share with sh. 700 million being sourced from local revenue collection.
Additional funding was to come from conditional loans and grants from development partners to the tune of sh. 575 million.
Conditional funds allocation from the national government amounted to sh. 153 million .
