Nominated Member of parliament David Ole Sankok has turned down a request by the United Democratic Party caucus for People with Disabilities (PWDs) to Join their disability league.
The MP who hosted representatives from the 47 counties at his Osim country lodge said he will respond to the request in or before December after consulting with his Jubilee party leaders.
The PWDs National Chairman for UDA Party Joseph Maina alias ‘Sonkore’ said on behalf of the 6.5 million PWDs they approached Mr Sankok who is their representative in parliament to ditch Jubilee and join UDA affiliated to deputy president William Ruto.
“We have traveled all the way from Nairobi to come and deliver a goodwill message and a humble request to one of our biggest soldiers in fighting for rights of people with disability to join the UDA disability league,” said Mr Maina.
Accompanied caucus members Mr Abdi Abdille PWD UDA (Secretary general), Brigid Sonkok (deputy Secretary general), Mr Charles Kimutai (Vice Chairman) and Mr Bernard Bancha (in charge of sport) said they will continue to persuade him until he joins them.
The officials also tried to brand the MP with a UDA cap, the party Constitution and T-shirts but the MP requested time to think over the matter before the end of the year.
“I have heard your request and you will receive my response in or before December of what I will do since I will consult with my party leader Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy party leader William Ruto and I will come back to you,” said Mr Sankok.
During the presser Mr Sankok opened up on his latest attire with Kenyan flag stripes and colors of yellow colors of UDA wondering why the colors are causing jitters in parliament and in the media.
“I have been wearing red associated to my party Jubilee and Kanu, I have been wearing green associated to a small village party called ford Kenya, was also wearing the white one associated with a ‘political Nasa why is the yellow colors causing jitters,”
He revealed he was questioned why he was entering parliament last week because he was clad with a suit with a political party colors, saying he was properly dressed according to the speaker communication of 2019.
