RAILA VOTE HUNTING IN COAST

ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Young Turks foot soldiers are on overdrive as they plot how best to maximize the second mass voter registration drive to increase his vote basket in Coast region.

Led by the National Chairman, Azimio Young Turks Alliance (AYTA) Jaoko Oburu Odinga, the political youth brigade has now pitched tent in the coastal region to sensitize eligible voters of the importance of registering as voters and to take part in this year’s polls.

Speaking during a Luo Community political forum in Mombasa, Jaoko said he is optimistic about enlisting more voters in their strategy of grass root door to door mobilization in the second IEBC exercise, and unlike the first IEBC voter drives where leaders engaged in roadshows.

Jaoko said the new focus of door to door campaign is seen as a strategy to salvage more votes for Raila Odinga presidential bid in the August general election.

During the meeting, the Luo Community vowed to tackle voter apathy, saying it had negatively affected Raila’s presidential bid in past elections.

The Leaders resolved to put aside their differences and marshal their political forces together with the aim of mopping out youth to register as voters and recruiting more people to join the ODM party.

The (AYTA) Chair urged the youth who have attained the age of 18 to register in large numbers to boost ODM party political stamina geared toward ensuring Raila clinches the presidential seat on August polls.

Jaoko, the elder son of Oburu Odinga said the youth votes cannot be wished away as they are a catalyst for political change.

On his part, Vibrant Democratic Party (VDP) and former Nyali Mp Hezron Awiti Bollo urged youths to take voter registration seriously ahead of the polls.

Awiti urged the luo community living in Mombasa to put their personal interests aside and forge a political unity geared towards hunting votes for Raila in the Coast region.

He urged the Luo Community to take part in mobilizing to take part in voter registration.

Awiti urged his clans’ men and women to become political grass root role models and ambassadors for Raila Odinga in the region.

“Let us stop political divisions to ensure we succeed in making Raila the next Head of State,” he pointed out.
