NAKURU: JUBILEE PARTY RECEIVES 250 DEFECTORS FROM UDA.

250 royalists of the United Democratic Alliance in Nakuru have decamped to the Jubilee party amid  calls for increased popularization of Azimio La Umoja’s ideology in the region.

The defectors want the Jubilee party’s secretariat to empower regional branches to popularize   Azimio’s campaigns in the bid to ensure that the coalition obtains an outright win in the forthcoming general elections. Through their spokesperson Joyce Cheptoo the defectors want campaign materials to be able to penetrate the grassroots and help sell the coalitions agenda which she describes as progressive and inclusive.

She said that besides being pillars of the campaign they intend to champion peace drives across the county which is a battleground for the two mainstream coalition political parties. Cheptoo told reporters that her campaign trail will drive women and children empowerment in the bid to create an equitable society that will allow cohesive development. She urged women to make their votes count by embracing leaders with vision.“It’s women who vote in large numbers. Women now should make their votes count and pick leaders who transform the country,” she said.

“There are politicians coming with goodies. Vote wisely for growth and good governance. When you see us walking around, we just don’t want to make noise but make peace. It is women and children who suffer when there is no peace. Let’s embrace and conduct peaceful campaigns,” she said.

The spokesperson advised the electorate to use the power of the ballot to elect leadership that could guarantee fairness and accountability in service delivery.

She added: “Gullible youths are being used by certain politicians to cause chaos in political rallies of their opponents. Elections come and go and life will continue. You should stop fighting over politicians.”

After receiving the defectors at the Kisulisuli grounds in Nakuru, Nakuru branch Jubilee Party Chairman James Karemi commended all hopefuls for various elective positions in the Azimio La Umoja coalition for practicing mature politics urging them to cooperate with each other in ensuring peaceful campaigns and elections.
