The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has underscored the urgent need for residents to keep peace during the electioneering period for there was life beyond the national exercise.
Area commissioner, Dorcus Kedogo explained the objective of the peace caravan was meant to sensitize the residents that normal life will resume even after the August 9 elections.
Kedogo criticized some politicians vying for elective seats for being bent on misusing and setting the voters against each other.
According to the commissioner,the move will boomerang since there would be no people to elect them.
Kisii county commissioner, Allan Machari observed the caravan’s inauguration,the NCIC and interacted with the youth in social groups and embraced upon them to observe peace.
The commission had also engaged with contestants in the impeding polls and agreed to conduct peaceful election campaigns.
