Uhuru categorises the cabinet

The Cabinet has been split into five clusters in a move aimed at fast tracking implementation of key Jubilee Government flagship projects by the Uhuru Kenyatta,the President.

The clusters include Security, Productive and Infrastructure sectors, Agricultural Transformation and Environment protection, Human Capital Development and the Governance and Public Administration.

It was reported that the presentations at Cabinet meetings will be by cluster, and will usually follow meetings of the various clusters themselves, which are expected to agree on policies before bringing them to Cabinet.
President Kenyatta will led the Security cluster with the deputy chairperson being Defense CS Raychelle Omamo.

In the Productive and Infrastructure sectors Tourism CS Najib Balala will be the Chairperson while Agriculture CS Willy Bett will lead the Agricultural Transformation and Environment protection category.

The Human Capital Development category will be headed by Education CS Fred Matiang’i while the Governance and Public Administration cluster will be chaired by Attorney General Githu Muigai.

The Head of State has also re-organised the Cabinet’s schedule, reducing the meetings to once a month as opposed to the traditional weekly sessions.

The Cabinet will hold its regular meetings twice-a-month, focusing on policy issues ,review, monitor and evaluate progress of projects under implementation.

During the three-day annual Cabinet retreat Kenyatta also suspended the initiation of new government funded projects to ensure full concentration on completion of projects and programmes already underway.
