A Thirteen year old girl-child who excelled in her KCPE but could not join form one due to lack of fees has been rescued and admitted to a school.
Emily Kerubo Ondieki ‘ s plight moved Ibacho High school management and administration who temporarily provided for and admitted her pending appeals to well-wishers to assist her raise fees while continuing with her education.
Receiving the girl-child, the school principal. Philip Ochoi termed incident unfortunate and challenged the school fraternity, local community and elected leaders to donate generously towards the education of the vulnerable learner.
The girl -child who hailed from a broken family in Kiamirega village, Gesabakwa sub locatio,Masaba south initially stayed with the parents in Nairobi.
Kerubo had scored a total of 376 out of 500 marks from Blessed Hope academy in Embakasi East, Nairobi, in April this year but could not report to Our Lady of Fatima girls secondary school in Nyeri county owing to financial challenges.
Hailing grandparents raised the red flag upon discovering that girl-child and her younger siblings were living in difficult circumstances in Nairobi and were out of school.
Appealing passionately for help to study and realize her dream of becoming a medical doctor, Kerubo said she was willing to join any school and work hard to reciprocate the assistance.
It also turned out that Kerubo ‘ s siblings were also embraced by the administration of a neighboring primary school where they were learning.
The grandparents, Josephat Gisemba lamented over their inability to educate the children citing their medical and poverty conditions besides the children’s father being jobless.
Deputy principal Peninah maugo ,expressed fear on the danger looming large at home if the girl -child was not enabled to continue with her education.
