INTER-RELIGIOUS COUNCIL LAUNCH 10 DAY COVID VACCINATION EXERCISE IN KERICHO COUNTY TARGETING 90,000 RESIDENTS. External Inbox

Inter-Religious Council of Kenya in collaboration with the ministry of health and UNICEF, have launched a ten day Covid 19 vaccination drive in Kericho County.

Addressing the press at Uhuru Gardens in Kericho town during the launch of the exercise, AbdiMajid Nassir, from the Inter-Religious Council, said Kericho County is among the Counties with lowest uptake of the vaccine and the drive is meant to increase the uptake, with a target of 90,000 people in the county.

Nassir pointed out that the data from the ministry of health shows that COvid 19 infections are now going up again, calling on the residents of Kericho County who have not been vaccinated to ensure that they turn up for the jab during the 10 day exercise.

Alfred Langat, County immunization coordinator, said there are four patients suffering from Covid 19 at Kericho County Referral Hospital, two at Central Hospital, one at Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital and also one patient at Siloam Hospital.

Langat said all those admitted in hospitals have not been vaccinated, calling on members of the public who have not been vaccinated to turn up for the exercise, with the uptake currently standing at only 28.5 percent.

He said a total of 5,600 people have suffered from the disease so far in the county, with 290 deaths. Total doses administered stands at 331,343, with 150,000 having fully vaccinated.

Rev. Andrew Tum, chair, NCCK, Kericho County said the vaccination uptake in the county has been very low, calling on members of the public to take the vaccine to avoid deaths.
