Man critically injured by Hyena

A 60 year old man was rushed to Garissa referral hospital where he is fighting for his dear live after critically injured by a lone Hyena which attacked him in raya village of Garissa county.

Abdi Afi Mohamud who was looking after his goats i his farm along Tana river lost his left eye during the scuffle

Addressing the press at the hospital the victim relatives Abdikafar yusuf said the Hyena strayed into the goats’ farm within the village and started attacking the herd.

Yusuf said the commotion and cries from the goats attracted the attention of the old man who rushed to the scene but the Hyena instead turned to him.
His cries attracted the rest of the villagers who came to his rescue and killed the hyena.

The villagers using a private vehicles rushed the victims to Garissa for treatment.

Yusuf called Kenya Wild Services (KWS) to compensate them for the lose of the animals, human and drive away wild animals roaming human settlements to nearby game reserve
According to Dr. Hussein Iman a general surgeon at the hospital, this is the fourth incident of hyena attaching human in the county adding that the patient was recuperating well ad in a stale condition

He added that they managed to Stabilize him by adding blood after losing at least two litters during the attack.
