Vihiga Senator Challenges Leaders to Focus on Duty

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has appealed to elected leaders to focus on delivering services to the electorate as time for politicking is over.

Osotsi lamented that some leaders are still preoccupied with politics, yet it was time to deliver on their promises to the electorate.

“The new government is taking shape and it is imperative that those entrusted with public offices concentrate on the execution of the mandate of these services for the benefit of the citizenry,” he observed.

The senator called for concerted efforts to mitigate the effects of drought and starvation that are ravaging various parts of the country.

Osotsi was speaking after the Vihiga High Court dismissed a petition challenging his election as the area Senator.

Justice Joseph Karanja dismissed the petition filed by Babira Ndeda, who had vied for the seat on the Progressive Party of Kenya (PPK), saying it did not comply with rules of procedure.

The judge ruled that the petitioner’s grounds of the suit did not meet the threshold and ordered him to meet the costs.

Ndeda had wanted the court to overturn the election victory of Osotsi, who vied on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party citing election malpractices.

The other contestants for the senatorial seat were Jackson Swadi (UDA) and Kennedy Butika of Amani National Congress(ANC).
