Reprieve For Embakasi Ranch Shareholders As President Ruto Issues Title Deeds

President Ruto oversaw the issuance of title deeds to more than 2,000 Embakasi Ranching Company shareholders in the afternoon of Tuesday, 11th July 2023.

The President said the title deeds will minimize disputes and put a value on said properties.

“This will pave the way for productive use of land in our country,” a tweet on his account read in part.

He added that the document will also be used as collateral in securing loans from financial institutions.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries Zacharia Njeru (Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development), Moses Kuria (Investments, Trade, and Industry), Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, MPs, and other leaders, were present in the function.

Mr. Gachagua noted that the Opposition will not deter the Government from transforming Kenya.

On his part, Mr Sakaja said protests cannot uplift Kenyans. “It is time we engaged in development-oriented politics,” argued the Governor.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the program in August 2020 after the company, Embakasi Ranching Company, ran into financial headwinds.

At the time, there were 35,000 shareholders of the firm and a few got their title deeds in the initial exercise overseen by the Head of State.
