Kirinyaga County Assembly Women Caucus has condemned the attack on county women’s representative Jane Njeri. Speaking in the Kirinyaga County assembly the female MCAs said the attack on women is backwardness and should no be witnessed again in the county.
Led by their chair Miler Mumbi they called for speedy investigations and perpetrators brought into book. She further called for respect among the leaders in various levels of political class.
Majority whip Lucy Njeri said Kirinyaga is a peaceful county as witnessed during campaigns urging all to continue with the same spirit. She said once the investigation report is out she will table in the County Assembly to provide more security to women to enable them to perform their duties.
Grace Kamau, nominated MCA, but some leaders are misusing youths. She said they are being paid pennies to disrupt functions yet the assembly is passing budgets for the improvement of their livelihoods. Ms.Kamua noted the 2027 general election is still far and it’s now time for each leader to deliver the promises to the electorates. She warned that violence is taking Kirinyaga to the old days when its signature was violence.
Jane Wangu echoed her colleagues adding that every leader should perform their duties as stipulated in the constituted.
The County MP was attacked last week when she accompanied Baragwi MCA David Mathenge to DCI Offices.
